Vintage Pennants

   Vintage pennants are a type of commemorative flag that often featured the official colors and mascot of a particular team.  Vintage pennants were typically made out of felt.  Images in contrasting colors, such as the name of the team and their mascot, were either stitched on by hand or screen printed on.  Fans showed their support of their favorite team by waving these pennants around during games.

Pennants have been used to show team spirit in all type of sports and all levels of sporting events.  Teams playing at the high school, college and professional level all had their own pennants.  Today Sports collectors are declaring their allegiance to favorite teams by purchasing vintage pennants.    

Vintage pennants with hard to find images or ones that commemorate special victories have become hot collectibles among sports fans.  In Major League Baseball special pennants were displayed exclusively by a league winning team.  Some vintage pennants also represent institutions or act as a souvenir for vacation spots.  Whatever they represent, there is no shortage of collectors eager to show off their team spirit by buying and displaying vintage pennants sports memorabilia.
